AFTER SELECTING YOUR GARDEN, PARK OR SCHOOL...

  1. Choose any ONE day between 29 June and 7 July 2024.
  2. Look for birds for ONE hour in your survey area.
  3. For each species record the HIGHEST number seen (or heard) at one time.
  4. Submit your survey results.
  5. Check out the findings online.

All questions are optional except those marked *. The information you provide will be stored on a secure online repository by Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research. The data will be aggregated and used by Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research, the New Zealand Garden Bird Survey, and partners for reports and publications.Your bird counts and description of the area you surveyed will also be uploaded to the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) to enable open access to this valuable biodiversity information. Only New Zealand Garden Bird Survey project staff will be able to view your personal contact details. We will not give or sell your personal details to anyone.
